Luna Sconty
Artist/Educator
STATEMENT
My work is rooted in Surrealism and explores the intersection of psychology, mythology, and the natural world. Educated by institutions and mentors in Europe and trained in Jungian psychology and integrative wellbeing, I create symbolic landscapes that invite viewers beyond ordinary perception into spaces of reflection and discovery.
Through layered textures, luminous color, and dreamlike imagery, I explore memory, transformation, resilience, and our interconnectedness with one another and the living Earth. Rather than illustrating a fixed narrative, my paintings leave room for intuition, allowing each viewer to find personal meaning.
The accelerating climate crisis has become a defining focus of my practice. Themes of rising waters, fragile ecosystems, and renewal reflect both the vulnerability of our planet and humanity’s capacity for healing and change. My work explores not only environmental consequences but also the psychological and spiritual responses they evoke.
Ultimately, I hope my paintings inspire a deeper awareness of our relationship with the Earth and remind us that caring for the planet begins with recognizing our profound connection to all life.
BIOGRAPHY
Luna Sconty is a European-American artist, curator, and interdisciplinary creative whose work is rooted in Surrealism, exploring the intersection of psychology, mythology, and environmental consciousness. Through symbolic imagery and dreamlike narratives, her paintings invite viewers to reflect on their relationship with themselves, one another, and the living world.
Educated by institutions and mentors in Europe, Sconty developed a distinctive visual language characterized by luminous color, expressive brushwork, and richly layered surfaces. Trained in Jungian psychology and integrative wellbeing, she creates immersive works that explore transformation, resilience, and the interconnectedness of all living beings.
The accelerating climate crisis has become a defining focus of her practice. Through themes of rising waters, environmental displacement, fragile ecosystems, and regeneration, her work explores both the ecological and psychological consequences of a changing planet. Rather than offering answers, her paintings encourage reflection on our shared responsibility to protect the Earth while envisioning hope, healing, and renewal.
STATEMENT
Through my work I seek to create spaces where viewers encounter heightened states of their innermost self – experiences unbound by time, space, or judgment, yet sustained by the integrity of their own imaginative power. Based on my studies of Jungian depth psychology and influenced by the legacies of Surrealism, my practice moves beyond normative constraints to shape a visual language of symbolic resonance. This approach emphasizes psychological depth and evokes a sense of wonder through dreamlike imagery (dreamscapes) and surreal depictions of the subconscious realm.
As an educator, I encourage others to enter their creative realms with curiosity and courage – using art, music, and movement to cross into uncharted territories where vulnerability transforms into strength and individual voices emerge with clarity. Collaboration is integral to this vision. I am committed to fostering communities grounded in openness, peace, and mutual growth. For me, art, music, and movement are vital forces that the shape human experience, offering resonance, meaning, and connection.
BIOGRAPHY
Inspired by the natural beauty of the Nordic countries, Euro–American artist Luna Sconty creates works that draw viewers into the depths of the subconscious, where imagination and healing unfold. Her art carries a surrealist current—dreamlike imagery and symbolic motifs that reveal hidden inner worlds and invite transformation.
Her journey began in childhood and deepened through formal studies at the Academy of Arts in Stuttgart, where she trained under Professor Hugo Peters, an acclaimed artist and Buddhist whose influence shaped both her artistic vision and spiritual life. A founding member of an art college in Germany, Luna has exhibited nationally and internationally while fostering collaborative and sustainable creative circles with artists worldwide, including her dear friend Uwe Boschen and others.
Trained in voice, instruments, and movement, she embodies rhythm and resonance, weaving art, music, and motion into her practice. With a focus on art as a means of healing, Luna draws on Jungian psychoanalysis, holistic neuroscience, and depth psychology to create symbolic landscapes that bridge the conscious and the subconscious. As a member of the i3c Artists Group in Boston, she also uses her art to call attention to climate change and climate justice.
