STATEMENT

A timeless, meditative journey through color, texture, and form defines my artistic practice through an ongoing exploration of the mind, body, and soul in dialogue with nature. Working in mixed media, I translate organic rhythms and natural systems into layered, tactile surfaces that reflect both the beauty and fragility of the natural world.

Nature is my primary source of inspiration, particularly its cycles of growth, decay, and renewal. These processes are echoed in my materials and methods, where repurposed and discarded elements are integrated to create renewed presence and meaning, emphasizing sustainability and interconnectedness.

Texture is central to my visual language, built through gels, paper, fabric, and organic matter. My process is intuitive and meditative, allowing each piece to evolve naturally. Through both my studio practice and inclusive workshops, I seek to foster connection, accessibility, and a deeper awareness of our relationship with the environment.

BIOGRAPHY

Spriha Gupta is a mixed media artist whose practice explores themes of resilience, transformation, and the interconnectedness between humans and the natural world. Influenced by her Indian heritage, she employs bold color, symbolism, and layered textures to reflect both personal narratives and broader environmental concerns. Her work is grounded in a commitment to ecological balance, often drawing attention to the urgency of climate change while honoring the beauty and vitality of nature.

Working through an intuitive process, Gupta combines acrylics with materials such as tree bark, cheesecloth, paper, gels, and modeling paste to create richly textured, multi-dimensional surfaces. This tactile approach invites a deeper engagement, encouraging viewers to experience the work beyond the visual and to discover meaning through both form and material.

Community engagement is an integral part of her practice. Through exhibitions, public art, and workshops, including her work with visually impaired and blind participants she expands access to artistic expression and fosters meaningful connections. Her work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and public spaces, and is held in private collections internationally.

Across canvas, wearable art, and collaborative projects, Gupta continues to create work that bridges art and community, encouraging reflection, connection, and a shared sense of responsibility toward the environment and humanity. A deep engagement with all five senses is central to her creative process, shaping how she experiences and interprets life through her work.

STATEMENT

I am a mixed media artist using iconic symbolism to exemplify concepts close to my heart that are influenced by personal, societal and environmental changes. Strongly influenced by my Indian cultural roots I am fearless in my use of colors and weave them into my creations.

At the core of my artistic existence lies a profound commitment to maintaining the delicate balance of nature. Through my brush, I eloquently expresses the urgency for collective awareness and action in the face of climate change. My art urges every individual to confront and comprehend the harmful effects of global warming, working collaboratively toward a future where the world remains a canvas of rich, vivid colors rather than succumbing to a grey, lifeless fate.
